Welcome to Mrs. Machado's Web Page
Hello and welcome to the 2012-2013 school year! This year, I am the math and science teacher for Yreka Options.
I grew up in Yreka, graduated from YHS in 2002 and am excited to be a part of YHS once again.I have my Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics from Southern Oregon University and was awarded the Math Department Student of the Year both my Junior and Senior year. My teaching credential is from california State University Fresno and I recently added a Single Subject Credential in Science through Simpson University.
This year, the math courses I will be teaching are CASHEE Math, Algebra 1 and Practical Geometry, Geometry, and Consumer Math. I have aligned my curriculum with the YHS Math department to ensure that we are using the same book and teaching at the same pace. For example, you take Algebra 1A with me and then transfer back to YHS, Algebra 1B will start right where we left off. The science courses that I will be teaching are Integrated Science, Physical Science, Life Science, and Health.
The most exciting thing about the Yreka Options program is the individual attention that I am able to give my students. In the independent study program, each student has a one hour appointment with me each week. My classroom is open for students to study and for extra help during appointment hours and open office hours.Students, if you find yourself struggling while working at home, please feel free to come in for help, use my classroom to study, or even call or email. Parents, please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns or would like an update on your child's progress. The best way to reach me is email, email@example.com, however you can call as well and leave a voicemail if I cannot answer at (530) 842-1659 ext 311.
I am an energetic person whose passion has always been mathematics and science. Each student needs to have the feeling of “I can do it” that comes with not only large accomplishments, but with everyday small successes. This helps them build the confidence they need to have school be a positive experience. . I pride myself in the ability to understand where a student is struggling and help them to work past it to achieve their goals. Everyone can acheive success, even if you don’t think you can. If you come in for help, I’ll make sure you understand it!
