Welcome to Ms. Truttman's Web Page
Welcome Back! This year will be my 13th year at YHS and I'm excited to get to know or get reacquainted with the heart of Yreka High School -- Miner students. I am teaching United States history, advanced placement United States history and English III.
My teaching philosophy is guided by a firm belief that every individual is unique and offers something extraordinary to the world. I endeavor to create a learning environment that will provide both a safe place for students to explore their capabilities and encourage them to reach their full potential.
Students will be challenged to take responsibility for their own learning through reading and writing assignments, creative projects, lectures and discussions. AP US History is a fast-paced, college-level survey course that covers the Pre-Columbian Era to today. Our thematic study of US History and English III (American Lit) will be based on relevant issues in today's world -- Immigration and Migration, Science and Technology, Economic Opportunities, The American Character, The Other America and America and Global Affairs. This thematic approach to our nation's history will allow students to recognize historical connections to the world we live in today. Additionally, utilizing this thematic approach will enrich the learning opportunities and experience for all students.
I look forward to having a great year and getting to know students and parents.
